DANII’s principal aims are to raise awareness of diabetes and potentially fatal hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia (DKA), and to deliver an affordable alert device to provide support, security and peace of mind for the management of type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Foundation believes this technology – a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and alert system, should be readily available and affordable to every single person in Australia, regardless of age.
This life-saving technology is expensive and often out of the financial reach of young adults suffering with type 1 diabetes. Access to this technology provides these people with an opportunity to better manage their type 1 diabetes on a day-to-day basis and gives them a safer and better quality of life. Continuous Glucose Monitoring systems provides families with the ability to remote monitor their loved ones Blood Glucose Levels which alleviates stress and anxiety for the wider family.
