How to use Lucas' Papaw Ointment
Dry Chapped Skin and Lips
Relieve and soothe your dry skin and lips with Lucas' Papaw Ointment. The healing properties of papaw contained in Lucas' Papaw Ointment improve the appearance and texture of dry skin and lips.
Lucas' Papaw Ointment is commonly used on:
- Chapped, cracked and flaking lips
- Dry cracked heels and feet
- Dry elbows
- Dry painful knuckles - especially in the dry winter weather
- Patchy dry skin
- Dry scratch and abrasion prone skin in the elderly
Use the 25g tube for dry skin or the handy 15g with lip applicator for silky smooth lips.
Application:
- Apply a thick layer of Lucas' Papaw Ointment to patches of dry skin or lips as needed.
Minor Wound Care - Cuts and Scratches
Using Lucas' Papaw Ointment on wounds will speed up the healing process allowing your skin to recover more quickly.
Application:
- After thoroughly cleaning the wound and ensuring there are no foreign particles, apply Lucas' Papaw Ointment as soon as possible.
- Best results are experienced by covering the wound completely in Lucas' Papaw Ointment and then covering with a clean dressing such as a Band-Aid or bandage - depending on the size of the affected area and the position of the wound on the body.
- The dressing should be changed regularly
Covering the area holds the ointment in place over the wound so it can do its job without being wiped off and prevents the ointment from being deposited on clothes, bed sheets etc.
Nappy Rash
Lucas' Papaw Ointment has been used successfully to treat nappy rash on sensitive babies' bottoms. It soothes sensitive skin and heals rashes, while acting as a gentle yet effective barrier to protect babies' delicate skin from nappy rash, dryness and irritation. It works by protecting the skin from prolonged periods of moisture, as well as the healing enzymes in papaws working to soothe and restore the already affected areas. It has also won multiple awards as a nappy rash product.
Application:
- Apply Lucas' Papaw Ointment as a thin barrier over the affected area as part of the nappy change process.
Note: Bub's nappy rash may become slightly more red after application. This is part of the expected healing process and will calm down while the ointment soothes and heals. If you are concerned about a worsening of symptoms please discontinue use.
Sports Injuries - Chafe, Grazes and Abrasions
Injuries such as chafing and grazing are very common in sports such as running, cycling, long distance swimming and team sports. Lucas’ Papaw Ointment can be used as barrier to prevent or soothe chafing, it is also an effective healing agent for those grazes and small cuts that are sometimes part of sports. Lucas’ Papaw Ointment has become an essential in any sports bag to treat chafing, irritation and providing soothing to all types of athletes.
Application:
Chafe
- Apply Lucas’ Papaw Ointment as a thin layer over the chaffed area, or, apply as a barrier in known chafe affected areas as prevention.
Grazes and Abrasions
- Thoroughly clean the area to remove any dirt or debris
- Apply a layer of Lucas' Papaw Ointment over the entire graze and cover with a band-aid or non-stick dressing.
- Remove dressing and reapply ointment daily until healed
Please be aware that the ointment will transfer to any clothing placed over the area so it is recommended to apply a non-stick dressing over the ointment.
Grazes, Red Skin Rash and Heat Rash
Lucas' Papaw Ointment can be used to soothe and relieve grazes, red skin rash and heat rash. Please note that all of these symptoms may become slightly more red shortly after application of ointment as part of the healing process - this is completely normal and will settle while the healing enzymes work.
Application:
- Apply Lucas’ Papaw Ointment as a thin layer over the area.
- If used in a clothed area, apply a light bandage or non-stick dressing to avoid transfer to clothing.
- Reapply daily or after showering until settled.

Bites & Stings
Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is an ideal topical application for lasting relief from irritation such as mosquito bites and other non-venomous insect stings and bites.
Application:
- Apply Lucas’ Papaw Ointment as a generous layer over the affected insect bite area and rub in for a few seconds. You will notice the sting sensation disappearing.
Bonus: Lucas' Papaw Ointment leaves no burning or sensation like other bite and sting creams, making it a child friendly choice.
Mild Burns including Sunburn
Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is commonly used to sooth a range of minor burns such as sunburn and superficial small area scalds and cooking injuries.
Application:
- First apply cool water to the minor burn to take the heat out of the injury
- Once you have cooled the burn with water, apply Lucas’ Papaw Ointment to cover the burn area.
- For small burns, the application of a non-stick dressing to cover the ointment will also help recovery.
